The Giant Redwood Log House

A Once-in-History Living Masterpiece

This extraordinary home was created from a single Giant Redwood tree, hollowed from solid wood to form a fully livable space. Inside, you’ll find a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom, all thoughtfully designed within one continuous log. Every piece of furniture is built-in and handcrafted from rare redwood burls and beautiful curly-grained redwood, making the interior as unique as the tree itself.

This remarkable structure is a strong candidate for the World’s Largest Camper and Log Home built from a single tree. Fewer than three structures of this kind are known to exist worldwide, and none can ever be built again. Since the 1960s, Giant Redwood trees have been federally protected, making this home a once-in-a-lifetime achievement that can never be replicated.

Born from a Giant of Nature

Redwood trees grow exclusively along the northern coast of California and are the tallest trees on Earth, as well as some of the fastest growing. They are exceptionally durable—rarely destroyed by fire or disease—and even when cut, their stumps often sprout new life.

The tree used for this home stood 260 feet tall, measured 14 feet across at its base, and was an incredible 980 years old. It came from a Redwood Tree Farm and was harvested as part of a responsible thinning program, where selective cutting and replanting ensure the long-term survival of the Redwood forests.

Engineering the Impossible

The section used to create the house was taken 100 feet above the ground, measuring 33 feet long and 8 feet wide. The walls range from 5 to 10 inches thick, and the finished structure weighs approximately 12 tons. Two skilled craftsmen worked full-time for an entire year to complete it.

Although fully self-contained and completely livable, the Giant Redwood Log House has most often been displayed as an educational and historical exhibit, allowing visitors to truly grasp the immense scale and beauty of Giant Redwood trees—something photos alone can never convey.

A Living Legacy

This one-of-a-kind Redwood Log House was built and operated by Maxwell Kitson (1942–2022)

and has been proudly owned and preserved since 2022 by Davlet Abdullayev.

Today, it stands not just as a home—but as a living monument to nature, craftsmanship, and history. A place where generations can step inside a 980-year-old tree and experience something that will never exist again.
